The magnificent Hancock County Courthouse on Memorial Square was built in 1881 and is worth visiting. The many antebellum homes along Maiden Lane are worth driving by. Proceed from the courthouse down Broad Street in Sparta with its many 19th century stores, many in near original condition to the Sparta-Hancock Museum.
